Cemoi History

CEMOI is a family-owned company that dates back to the early 19th century. It’s the only company in France that controls the cocoa process from bean to bar and distinguishes itself with an atypical strategy on the chocolate market. The company is one of the leading chocolate manufacturers in Europe.

In 1814, Chocolate maker Jules Pares builds the first chocolate factory in France in the Pyrenées Orientales. With this factory, The CEMOI Group was born.

The 19th and 20th centuries were marked by challenging incidents, but due to tremendous drive and the will to overcome setbacks, CEMOI continued to grow and develop.
Large-scale development marked the post war period of prosperity welcomed consumer society development; CEMOI commenced acquisition of other chocolate factories and developed its international presence.

The 20th century concluded with a period of diversification inspired by in the clear headedness and reactivity of CEMOI leadership. Along with the Group’s international implantation strategy, CEMOI expanded their field of activity, resulting in a growing customer base.

The 21 first century brought the awareness of global imperatives; along with it CEMOI's commitment to a responsible growth policy ; improving their quality system, implanting an ultra-modern plant in Ivory Coast and launching an organic chocolate brand.

Today, while continuing extension and diversification policies, the CEMOI Group continues its restructuring and re-organization processes with targeted growth in North America, and the development of a new plant in the south of France.
