A dark and intense extension to Felchlin's Classic Sao Palme line
São Tomé is part of the volcanic archipelago in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western equatorial coast of Central Africa, next to Príncipe. The island is mountainous and has very fertile soil, which is ideal for cacao farming. Thanks to the seclusion of the island, the noble cacao beans Forastero Amelonando remains in its natural form. São Tomé became the first world cacao producer in the first decade of the 20th century. The predominance of cacao was so impressive that the country became know as “Chocolate Island”. Today, the government of São Tomé supports the country’s cacao farming and strongly encourages the farmers to preserve sustainable production processes in this sector. The cacao from São Tomé has been recognized as one of the fine/flavor varieties of the world by the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO).
